As soon as the first urinary incontinence episode occurs, many patients, especially women, stop completely working out.

It is a fact that activities such as running and sports that force you to jump, e.g. volleyball or aerobic exercise, and which increase intra-abdominal pressure and consequently the pressure exerted on the pelvic floor muscles, are not recommended for urinary incontinence patients.

Urine leakage can be unpredictable and unstable.

Here are four simple tips that can help you avoid urinary incontinence “accidents” at the gym:

1) Don’t drink coffee, tea or caffeinated, carbonated beverages (cola), as caffeine is a diuretic and an irritant, that can lead to incontinence more easily. It is, however, important to be well hydrated before any physical activity: don’t forget to drink the right quantities of water.

2) Avoid all spiced and spicy foods and drinks that cause an acidic reaction, such as orange, lemon and cranberry juice. Instead, opt for a diet rich in vegetables and fibre.

3) Use an incontinence pant of the correct size for your needs, as it will prevent urine incontinence and unpleasant odours.

4) Opt for workout clothes made of black fabric, so, in case of leakage, your workout companions will not be able to notice it. Pilates and Kegel exercises are the best options in case of incontinence.

Iasi incontinence pants have been designed to combine maximum absorbency, excellent body fit, skin-friendliness and proven odour control. A perfect solution for comfortable and worry-free exercise!
